Successful completion of storm tank project at Etruria Pure Gym site
18th June 2025We are pleased to announce the successful completion of our works at the Etruria Pure Gym site in Stoke-on-Trent, delivered on behalf of our client, Severn Trent.
The project involved the construction of a 10.5m diameter, 13m deep storm tank beneath the gym’s car park, forming part of critical infrastructure improvements to help manage stormwater in the area. Work commenced in February 2024 and although the team encountered early challenges with a BT and gas main diversion that had to be resolved before shaft construction could begin, progress remained steady.
In the final three months of the project, Barhale successfully delivered a number of key activities. These included the installation of the cover slab for the shaft, the construction of the valve chamber and full reinstatement of the car park. The reinstatement works involved kerbing, block paving, tarmac surfacing, white lining, and landscaping, all completed to a high standard, followed by the removal of site hoarding to return the space to the public.
A recent site visit from Michael Cooper of Severn Trent, alongside Martin Pritchard (Site Manager) and the Assistant Manager from Pure Gym, was very positive. They were all highly complementary of the finished works, particularly the restored condition of the car park.
We would like to give special thanks to Rob Chattoe (Project Manager), Martin Pritchard (Site Manager), Phil Hall (General Foreman), Jamie Geddes (Senior Site Engineer), Cameron Cooke (Apprentice Site Engineer) and our dedicated site operatives, whose hard work and professionalism were instrumental in the project’s successful delivery.
