Barhale’s response to COVID-19

2nd April 2020

In the face of the developing COVID-19 situation, the teams at Barhale are working tirelessly to help mitigate the effect and help maintain the resilience of our national infrastructure, whilst safeguarding our people. Following current government guidelines and in consultation with clients and suppliers, Barhale has decided to suspend all activities deemed non-essential by our clients at its sites, and to move office-based operations to a work from home model.

The nature of our work means that there are a number of exceptions where sites are deemed critical to the national infrastructure. Our work at these sites keeps water supplies running, sewers flowing, mitigate the risk of flooding and help keep the lights and power on for homes, hospitals and food retailers.

Our priority at all times is the safety and well-being of both our people and the public. Our key workers at these sites are operating in line with government approved Safe Operating Procedures, plus local enhancements specific to projects. When the essential work at these sites is finished they will be shut too. Some other sites may briefly see activity while they are secured, safely closed and maintained.

We believe this is absolutely the right decision at this difficult time and that it will give us all the best chance to meet the challenge coronavirus presents us with. In the meantime, our thanks to all those we work with whether it be our enabling and delivery teams, clients, partners, suppliers or any other colleagues across the sector and our best wishes to everyone to stay safe and healthy.

We will continue to share information as things progress, here, on the Barhale website and across our social media channels.
