Supporting future skills: Green Skills Academy at College of West Anglia
22nd October 2025We are proud to continue our support for future skills in the Eastern Region through our partnership with the College of West Anglia (CWA) on the development of the new Green Skills Academy at the Wisbech Campus.
This £4 million investment will create a vital hub for local people who want to pursue careers in protecting and enhancing the environment, supporting both the local community and the growing resource needs of the water industry.
The academy will combine traditional skillsets such as mechanical and electrical engineering with new, future-facing disciplines including sustainable urban drainage and rainwater management. Building this capacity and capability will play an essential role in strengthening the region’s water network resilience.
Barhale, together with Anglian Water’s @one Alliance and wider partners have worked closely with CWA to help shape this initiative. Our Eastern Regional Director, Joe Solomon, has been actively involved on the Steering Committee, guiding the Academy’s construction and now helping to shape its courses and curriculum for the 2026 intake.
The Green Skills Academy is about more than bricks and mortar. It’s about leaving a lasting legacy—by upskilling local people, creating career opportunities and ensuring that future generations are equipped with the skills needed to make a difference within our industry.
