Developing future leaders: Barhale launches its fourth Graduate Programme cohort
28th October 2025
Our graduate programme, now in its fourth cohort, continues to nurture the next generation of engineers and professionals who share our values of collaboration, integrity and innovation.
At the end of September, our new cohort joined us at our graduate induction day at our head office in Walsall. The day gave graduates the opportunity to connect, learn more about Barhale’s values and take part in a hands-on team-building challenge, marking the start of a 5-week intensive skills development programme during which staff are given some of the basic skills and awareness to start their journey and involvement with civil engineering and infrastructure.
Using team building exercises during the induction is a fantastic way to bring out creativity and collaboration, setting the tone for the journey ahead as the latest cohort prepare to begin work on our projects across the UK.
The programme supports graduates across a range of disciplines, including civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, together with estimating, HSEQ and business development. Across each of these areas, the programme offers a structured pathway from learning to leadership.
As part of the initial programme, the graduates have completed comprehensive training covering industry-specific skills, design introduction, risk handling and management, introduction to Barhale process, Ermeo digital assurance training, together with service avoidance, site survey and setting out.
Owen Mills, Engineering Director (Head Office) says: “At Barhale we recognise the need to embrace the skill and aptitude of our people whilst also securing these skills for the future. This applies at many levels, which is why we are committed to training and development that extends to all. One such level is the graduate scheme and for Barhale this is a programme to attract individuals with a good educational platform where we offer an incredible training opportunity that has the potential for them to develop into our managers for the future. This is one of the many development pathways that we have mapped out.
We have a focused 2-year development programme that is mapped out from day one and I believe this foresight, together with the support networks and skills development give a real tangible development to kick start the careers of each and every individual. In Barhale, the opportunities exist and we want our people to reach out and take them! Listening to many of the graduates talk through their development experiences working as key members of our teams is truly inspiring.”
When asked about what he was looking to get out of the programme, Sayed Mansour, Civil Engineer Graduate (Southern Region) shared, “I’m looking forward to working alongside people and on site. I want to make a change and the graduate programme gives me that opportunity.”
We are proud of the enthusiasm and ambition shown by our cohort 4 graduates and look forward to seeing the impact they will make as they embark on their careers with Barhale.
