Barhale Construction has delivered civil engineering schemes with a rail interface since 1989 and decided in 2004 to establish a bespoke rail division that can offer Barhale’s unique mix of capabilities to the railway industry.
The Rail Business Unit has developed a dedicated, specialist and railway experienced management team that is able to offer a total project management and delivery service to the rail industry. Barhale holds a Principal Contractors Licence and has successfully undergone the transfer to Link-Up Version 2.
Since 2004, Barhale Rail has successfully delivered schemes either directly for Network Rail, its key supply chain partners or other clients within the railway industry. At Barhale, we aim to be “best in class” at the services we provide and the successful delivery of schemes including Footbridges, Overbridges, Underbridges, Earthworks, Tunnels, Depot Works Piling, Drainage and Remediation schemes have provided the foundations for our rail business.
A cornerstone of the Barhale business model is the retention of a directly employed workforce and the large plant holding that the business retains. The company believe this approach ensures ability to react quickly to our client’s changing needs and an ability to provide a high quality of safety focused delivery through employees who we know to be well trained and committed to enhancing our reputation. With our rail capability ever increasing and the business targeting this area for future growth, a large number of our directly employed staff are PTS trained across all disciplines and we retain other skill sets such as COSS, Site warden, Lookout and Handsignalmen capabilities within the full-time Rail staff.
The company is confident that this business model in conjunction with the in-house support businesses (tunnelling, steelwork fabrication, M&E, utilities) offers the rail market an ideal opportunity to employ Barhale as a “one-stop-shop” and afford opportunity to drive down costs by efficiency savings whilst maintaining excellent safety standards.
