Scottish Water CDP
Barhale Northern and Scotland has been awarded a £27m contract
by Scottish Water for the refurbishment of water mains throughout
Ayrshire.
Matthew Burke said: “This award now consolidates our
presence in Scotland and builds on the company’s success in delivering the UID
programmes over the last two years”.
The contract was bid in November 2009 and won against stiff
competition from four other contractors.
Work is due to commence in April with initial investigation works to
confirm the optimum refurbishment
techniques before commencing work in earnest on four District Metering Areas.
Techniques will include PU lining, slip lining, and open
cut. Contract completion is due by April 2012.
Three other contractors have secured DW5 contracts, however
Barhale has been allocated the highest value. Alistair Smith and his team attended a joint workshop with
Scottish Water and three other contactors to prepare for the challenges ahead,
and to develop a better understand of the needs of the client.
It is envisaged that this is the first of many exciting
opportunities that will arise from Barhale’s appointment as a Capital Delivery
Partner for Scottish Water.
