Our Chairman started his working life as a tunneller. While it may not be possible for everyone to achieve exactly the same degree of progress or success in their careers, we’re committed to the idea of progression and genuinely believe that Barhale is a very smart choice for people who want to get on.
All our employees take part in an appraisal process which is designed to identify their aspirations and match them to future opportunities through a career development plan. We fully support card schemes such as CSCS and CPCS. Where appropriate, we will also help you achieve a relevant NVQ, develop your supervisory and leadership skills or explore a range of ‘taster’ sessions in areas such as presentations, time management and process mapping.
Graduates play a vitally important role in a business like ours, both in technical disciplines and wider commercial roles. Our training scheme is recognised by the Institute of Civil Engineers and we encourage everyone on the programme to pursue chartered status in their professions.
If you want to take your career even further, our Leading and Managing Continuous Change programmes allow you to progress to the next level. We are also introducing a mentoring scheme, where experienced managers coach and pass on experience and offer general guidance. Your career development may also include secondments to our clients and partners in fully integrated joint ventures.
Daniel Ward, IT Support Engineer
“When I was working at Shepherds Bush, I gave my foreman my CV and he passed it on to his manager. A few weeks later, I had an interview with the IT Manager and I explained that I wanted to work in that area. Things went on from there.”
